"A better love story than Twilight"

Films: Let the Right One In (2008)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of an average human child.

Affiliation: Neutral, leaning on Good

Summary: On this year, one of the most contested supernatural romances was put to the silver screen, and to this day, people are still debating over whether the outrage and memeing over it was deserved or just plain childish on our part. For obvious reasons, we didn't count it here...but we did count a little vamp love story that's a whole lot more respectable...and much, MUCH sadder and scarier.

History: Everybody hates Oskar, the 12-year old shrinking violet of a boy who couldn't stand up for himself if he tried. Worse, he's already fantasizing about their untimely demise. But before this kid can fully go psycho, along comes Eli, an equally quiet and weak-looking girl (or not, he's actually a castrated male) who gets along with him swimmingly and bolsters his confidence. But Eli harbors a dark secret. Putting it bluntly, he's a vampire, and his ward can't provide him with blood for very much longer. But as far as Eli is concerned, he and Oskar's bloodlust isn't entirely different…

Notable Kills: See Final Fate.

Final Fate: After many die horribly, it all comes to a head when Oskar is being threatened with his life in a swimming pool by a bully and his cronies. Eli arrives right on time...and we don't even see the massacre that follows. Just Oskar underwater as many kids die. Soon afterward, we see Oskar taking Eli with him in a box, the two reaffirming each other that their love has not died in the slightest.

Powers/Abilities: A vampire bite can lead to conversion rather quickly.

Weakness: Sunlight and cats.

Scariness Factor: 3-Eli is, for all intents and purposes, a tragic figure. Castrated at a young age and possibly more than a thousand years old, he can only hold back his bloodlust for so long before someone meets a messy demise. Sure, he and Oskar's budding romance is adorable in a way, but he was encouraging some sociopathic behavior on his part. And that's before we get to his own capacity to kill...

Trivia: -In the book this film is based off of, Oskar is overweight, Eli is much more unkempt, and his ward Hakan is ousted as a pedophile and doesn't stay dead for long.

-This film would have kicked off a TV series airing on TNT, but that got canned rather quickly.

As far as vampires go, this is the right one.

Shadows are the windows to her soul.

Awww...
"Meh. Whatever. I eat the souls of the living."

How long has that been there?

Hugs might be foreign to her.
Frostbite: It's worse than vampires...maybe.

I wonder if she even understands Morse.

It's not really black and white around these parts.

Innocence and savagery walk hand in hand for this venture.

Go home, Eli. You're drunk.
